MRY, Inc.
Exclusive distribution agreement for OEM license for USB over Network as a core USB redirection technology of VUMS (Virtual USB Management System) is concluded.

MRY, Inc. (CEO: Yutaka Fujisaki; COO: Ryoichi Yoshikawa; HQ: Yokohama, Japan) has entered into a business alliance with FabulaTech, LLP (CEO: Stanislav Golubev, HQ: London, UK), and concluded an exclusive distribution agreement for OEM license for USB over Network as a core USB redirection technology for VUMS (Virtual USB Management System) for a global enterprise market.

• Agreement overview
== Purpose ==
There is a growing demand for solutions allowing the use of USB devices in desktop clouds and thin client environments, where USB device is not usually supported.
VUMS (Virtual USB Management System), developed with USB over Network as a core USB driver virtualization technology, allows the use of USB devices by connecting and acknowledging them over network.
We would like to increase promotion efforts and sales of USB driver virtualization technology not only in Japan but also on the global enterprise market in order to strengthen our cloud solution portfolio. We will deepen the cooperation with oversea vendors and plan to expand the worldwide sales.

== Content ==
Contract day: October 3, 2011
Annual target sales amount: 50,000 licenses
Contract overview: Exclusive distribution rights for USB over Network (USB redirection
technology) as a core technology of VUMS (Virtual USB Management System) on the global enterprise market.

• Target market and sales amount
Our target market is a group of organizations seeking for cloud solutions such as central and local governments; financial, medical, and educational institutions. We also expect that VUMS will be used in various spheres such as BCP for disaster countermeasures, energy saving, telecommunication, etc. Our annual target sales amount is 50,000 licenses.

• VUMS (Virtual USB Management System)
== High-level USB Driver Virtualization Technology ==
It was very difficult to use USB devices connected to a client terminal on a virtual desktop.
To solve the problem, we adopted "USB over network" provided by FabulaTech. USB devices can be redirected to a server (virtual desktop) regardless of the OS on the client terminal.
All USB device drivers can be managed at the central server side with this "USB driver virtualization technology", dramatically reducing the burden of system operation and management.

== High-level USB Device Management Technology ==
VUMS enables redirection of USB devises from a client terminal to a server using the USB driver virtualization technology.
We have also developed "VUMS management console" so that administrators can set the connection limit for USB devices according to various criteria such as the type of USB device, user, or terminal.
On top of that, management of users and client terminals and that of USB devices can be unified in coordination with Active Directory®.
VUMS only allows you to use USB devices that are pre-registered in the management console. However, it records the logs even for unregistered connected USB devices.

USB over Network will help you to connect to a USB device, which is beyond your physical access or is needed on several computers.

When you need to use any USB device you plug it into USB port of your local terminal and the device is accessible only on the terminal it is physically plugged into.

In order to resolve this problem, FabulaTech created USB over Network. The USB redirection technology has made it possible to work with remote USB devices.
All you have to do is to install USB over Network Server on the client terminals where USB devices are plugged in, and to install USB over Network Client on the server. The computer with USB over Network Client will have access to the USB devices which are physically plugged into machines with USB over Network Server.

Now any user can work with remote USB devices over network as if they were connected directly to the local terminal.

Sales of "VUMS", the secure redirection solution for virtual desktop environments, began.

MRY, Inc. (CEO: Yutaka Fujisaki; COO: Ryoichi Yoshikawa; HQ: Yokohama, Japan) started the sales of "VUMS" (Virtual USB Management System) , a secure redirection solution for USB devices that are connected to a thin client terminal in a virtual desktop environment.

-Overview of New Product VUMS (Virtual USB Management System)
No installation of USB device drivers is necessary for a thin client terminal by consolidating USB device drivers at the server side (virtual desktop). Furthermore, USB devices connecting to any terminal can be well managed per group such as for users or for terminals . VUMS (Virtual USB Management System) has been developed as a solution to virtualize USB devices.

== High-level USB Driver Virtualization Technology ==
It was very difficult to use USB devices connected to a thin client terminal on a virtual desktop. Therefore, we adopted "USB over Network" technology provided by FabulaTech. USB devices can be connected to a server (virtual desktop) without depending on the OS of the thin client terminal.
As an example, USB devices can be connected to a Linux™ thin client terminal and can be redirected to Windows® Terminal Services.
In this scenario, there would be no need for USB device drivers on the Linux™ thin client terminal. All USB device drivers can be managed at the central server side with this "USB driver virtualization technology", dramatically reducing the burden of operation and management.

== High-level USB Device Management Technology ==
Redirection of USB devices that are connected to a thin client terminal to a server was enabled with the USB driver virtualization technology. However, if a user freely makes USB devices connectable, a security problem will arise.
Therefore, we developed "VUMS management console" so that administrators can limit the connection of USB devices under various conditions.
On top of that, management of users and/or thin client terminals and that of USB devices can be unified in coordination with Active Directory®.
Furthermore, VUMS not only records the connection log of USB devices but also records unregistered USB devices in VUMS management console, when connected.

== Case Study (Ordinance-designated City) ==
A private cloud system was established with hardware and common software, and this consolidated business systems in different segments in each desktop cloud; i.e. a residential information related high-secure network and an internal clerical work related middle-secure network. Thin client terminals are used so that no information or log will remain. We established an environment in which 1 terminal can manage all the work securely and seamlessly, although 2 terminals were previously needed for this operation. With the implementation of thin clients, the number of terminals was dramatically reduced from 7,000 to 2,000 PCs. Also, security enhancement and large cost reductions were realized by the dramatic increase of terminal operation rates.
It is commonplace to transfer images in ordinary thin client systems, but less common is the use of peripherals. Using VUMS enables the connection and operation of max. to 10 USB devices per each thin client terminal.
